Obituary

Funeral services for Elizabeth Nowlin Craver, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church chapel with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home. Ms. Craver died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at her residence. She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Clarendon, the daughter of the late Lee and Mattie Ruth Nowlin. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1945 and received her bachelor's degree in 1949 and her law degree in 1950 from the University of Texas. She worked as an attorney at law and was assistant to the district attorney in Lubbock and San Antonio. She was the first woman assistant district attorney in Bexar and Lubbock counties. She returned to Plainview in 1995. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. In 1952, she married Lester Hilburn Craver. Survivors include two sons, Lee Nowlin Craver of Plainview and Lester Hilburn Craver of Canyon; a daughter, Candice Ruth Holcomb of Plano; four grandchildren, Brandon Edward Holcomb of North Carolina, Travis Andrew Holcomb of Plano, and Christopher Lee Craver and Amanda Jorene Craver, both of Canyon. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church.
