Graveside services for Vonnie Ray "Pete" Cox, 83, of Lubbock will at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, in Plainview Cemetery and Memorial Park, 100 Joliet, Plainview. Vonnie went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2014. Cremation is under the care of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. To view Vonnie's tribute page, visit www.memorialdesigners.net. Vonnie was born on Oct. 23, 1930, to the late Ollie and Mary (Pennington) Cox on a farm in Haworth, Okla. Vonnie married the love of his life, Marie Douglas, on Sept. 10, 1949, in Plainview. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 40 years and retired in December 1991. Moving to Lubbock from Midland after retirement, Vonnie continued to work and opened Cox Telcom, Inc. with his son from 1992 until last year. Vonnie is preceded in death by his parents; both of his sons, Dickie Lynn Cox and Donald Ray Cox; and a sister, Juanita Hanna. Survivors include his wife, Marie; a grandson, Eric Cox of Lubbock; three sisters, Barbra Jean Cox of Royce City, Arlene Siebenlist of Santa Fe, N.M., and Mary Evalyn Cox of Austin; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
