Obituary
Funeral services for Evelyn Raper Couch, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, and Dr. Max Browning, retired church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Couch died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at her residence. She was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Brownfield, moved to Plainview at a young age and graduated from Plainview High School. During World War II, she worked at the glider pilot training base here. She also was office manager for more than 30 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone where she was a member of the Pioneers. She was a volunteer for the Democratic Party for many years and a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Robert Doyle Raper on March 23, 1946. He died Jan. 9, 1993. She married Willie Gaylon Couch on Nov. 26, 1994. He died Nov. 5, 1998. Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, Kelly and Janet Raper of Houston; one sister, Gwenelle Wooten of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren, Michael, David and Sadie Raper. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased. The family suggest memorials to First United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Seventh, Plainview, TX 79072.
