Funeral services for James Couch, 96, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at 11th & Amarillo Church of Christ with J. Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Couch died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 25, 1908 in Direct. He married Drusilla England on Dec. 22, 1935, in Buffalo Flat.

He arrived in Turkey in a covered wagon and grew up in Hall County. He farmed a number of years before moving to Plainview in 1946.

He worked as a carpenter then later worked as a maintenance man at the Plainview Hospital for 18 years.

He was a member of the 11th & Amarillo Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Jimmie Nell Brown of Mentone, Calif., Frances Lucille Love and Thelma Irene Fennell, both of Georgetown, Lillie Inez Crump of Lubbock, Mary Elizabeth Brown and Evelyn Marie Ridnerno, both of Plainview, Audrey Mae Alderson of Amarillo and Marth Lois Sumners of Midland: eight sons, Odis Truman Couch of Pittsurg, Texas, Charles Clifton Couch of Dallas, Loyd Vernon Couch of Diana, Gilbert Melton Couch of Kilgore, James Alton Couch of Kilgore, Weldon Ray Couch of Florence, William Everett Couch of Plainview and Marvin Lewis Couch of Canyon; a sister, Lela Mae McFarland of Plainview; 48 grandchildren; 53 great-granchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Three children, Thomas Couch, Audy Couch and Bobbie Ruth Couch; three brothers, Jessie, Noah and Lee Couch; two sister, Dovie Basch and Jewell Vera Phillips: and four grandchildren are deceased.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lemons Funeral Home and suggests memorials to the 11th & Amarillo Church of Christ Building Fund or a favorite charity.
