Obituary
Drennen M. Corbitt, 88, of Plainview went to be with the Lord on Oct. 19, 2008. He was born in Alma, Ark., on Dec. 5, 1919, to Jackson Claude and Jessie Savage Corbitt. His mother died in a tuberculosis asylum when he was 6 years old and he was raised in Amarillo, Texas, by his aunt and uncle, Robert (Bob) and Hazel Savage. He served proudly in the Army Air Force under the 940th Engineer Squadron during World War II. He worked in sales as a factory representative for Packard Bell, Consolidated Appliances and retired from Curtis Mathes where he was named the national top salesman twice. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, in Plainview Memorial Park, located in Plainview, Texas. He is survived by one son, Gary Dale Corbitt of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Brenda Corbitt Britten of Amarillo; one stepson, Larry Hewett of Austin; four grandchildren, Mark Denton and Yara Corbitt of Edinburg, Texas, Matthew Ryan Corbitt of Midland, Robert and Jenny Postom of Rock Hill, S.C., and Terrill and Betsy Hewett of Jackson, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Hewett Corbitt; and one stepson, Ronnie Hewett. Drennen will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
