Cooper, Daniel Lee

Funeral services for Daniel Lee Cooper, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mr. Cooper died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at his residence.

He was born July 29, 1932, in Abilene. He graduated from high school in Corpus Christi in 1949. He entered the U.S. Army that same year, serving until 1952 with the 25th Division, 27th Infantry "Wolf Hounds." He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, National Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and U.N. Service Medal.

He attended Wayland Baptist College and worked for Peerless Pumps from 1952-83. From 1983-95 he owned his own business, Cooper Pumps. Illness forced him to retire in 1995.

He was a member of the Mesonic Lodge and College Heights Baptist Church.

On June 19, 1953, he married LaJuana Faye McAda in Floydada.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Coy Stambaugh of Alto, N.M.; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rebecca Cooper of Crowley, a brother, David Cooper of Everglades City, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jon Stambaugh, Steve Stambaugh, Murel Ray Coope, William Wesley Coopercand Nicole Ehrhart; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Stambaugh and Taylor Cole Stambaugh.

A son, Terry Ray Cooper, is deceased.

Masons will serve as pallbearers.
