Cookston, Clarence Wayne (Sonny)

Funeral services for Wayne ?Sonny? Cookston, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Dr. Philip Jones, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Chris Craig, Chaplin for VistaCare Family Hospice.

Burial will be Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Cookston died at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 in IHS Heritage Home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1930 in Erick, Oakland served in the U.S. Army and Air Force from 1948-59. He lived in Ewa Beach, Hawaii for 36 years and owned and operated a restaurant. He moved to Plainview in 1986 and worked in a variety of jobs.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Scottish Rite Shrine, Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He married Mary Ann Ploch on Jan. 5, 1990 in Tulia.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Jackie Krepps of Culpepper, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Rozlyn Cookston of Plainview; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorotha Richardson, Gladys and Howard Shook and Lavern and Rusty Abbott, all of Plainview; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A stepson, Paul Hyslope, is deceased.
