Obituary

Funeral services for Daisy Bell Cook, 91, former Plainview resident, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Plainview with Elder Russell Wise, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Cook died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Windflower Nursing Home in Amarillo. She was born July 17, 1913, in Waco. She moved to Plainview in 1940 from Rosebud and was a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Plainview, serving as a church mother and usher for many years. She was a missionary, cook, hairdresser, house cleaner, seamstress and gardener. On Oct. 25, 1930, she married Milton Cook Jr. He died Nov. 25, 1971. Survivors include seven sons and two daughters-in-law, Charlie and Rushia Cook of Plainview, Milton III and Anna Lois Cook of Bryant, Ozell Cook, twins Gary and Jerry Cook, Lindsey Cook and William Cook, all of Amarillo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Daisy and A.J. Nichols Jr. of Amarillo, Chinester and Rogers Brackeen of Sun City, Ariz., and Sammie and Windell Johnson of San Angelo; a sister, Leanna McCutcheon of Plainview; 51 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Five sisters; two brothers; two sons, Leroy and Ernest Cook; one daughter, Lela Mae Cook Bradic; and her mother, Eliza Evan, are deceased. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Bartley Funeral Home.
