Funeral services for Lee Cook, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. A.C. Hamilton, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Cook died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born May 14, 1923, in Floyd County. He grew up in Childress and moved to Plainview in 1936 where he attended schools. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served during World War II in the European Theater. He returned to Plainview after the war and began working in the construction industry. He became a general contractor and later formed the partnership of White, Belk & Cook. After retirement, he owned and operated the Lee Cook Company and was a licensed real estate broker. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of both Masonic lodges #1395 and #709, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. On Jan. 1, 1947, he married Doris Campbell in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Cook of Austin and Carol Bleau of Bay City; one son, Brian Cook of Lubbock; two sisters, Margaret Angely of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., and Jean Sackett of Cheshire, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Cook of Austin, Katherine Cook and Meredith Cook, both of Lubbock, and Faith Bleau of Bay City. A son, Raymond Cook, died in 1986 and a brother and a sister also are deceased. Pallbearers will be Darwin Baker, Loyd Belk, R.C. Bradshaw, Clyde Dorsett, Doug Edwards, Bob Koen and Dean Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Sams, Reuben White, and members of the Masonic lodges. The family suggests memorials to the Hale County Senior Citizens, 1107 Smyth St., Plainview, TX 79072.
