Obituary
Clarence Cook, 65, of Plainview, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the First Baptist Church Chapel of Plainview with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Clarence was born May 7, 1946, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Cecil Clarence and Betty Jean Tibbets Cook. He married Shirley Cox on June 6, 1967, in Clovis, N.M. Clarence honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army in Korea and Vietnam. After his service in the Army, the majority of his professional life was as a truck driver until his retirement in 2009. Clarence was a handyman, a jack-of-all trades who could figure out how to fix almost anything. He enjoyed watching movies, especially science fiction, and listening to music. Clarence also was a proud supporter of Walmart cakes, one of his favorite treats. Clarence is survived by his wife of more than 44 years, Shirley Cook of Plainview; his sons, Dustin Cook and his wife, Melanie, of Plainview and John Wesley Cook of Hale Center; his daughters, Becky Sue Gable and her husband, Kim, of Plainview and Ashley Cook of Lemoore, Calif.; grandchildren, Leslie Dee Carlile, Kagen Ashley, Javan Taylor Cook, Kendrie Milstead, Kelby Cook and Natily Jeniece Souder.
