Obituary

Noma Compton, 80, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at 9th & Columbia Church of Christ with Mr. Kevin Igo officiating and Mr. Evan Weiss assisting. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. today, April 21, 2013, at the funeral home. Noma was born on Oct. 8, 1932, to William and Getty Goodpasture in Lubbock. She attended schools in Wolfforth and then attended Abilene Christian where she met her husband-to-be. She married Jack Compton on Sept. 7, 1952, in Lubbock. They moved to Plainview in 1968. She was a homemaker, loving wife and mother while Jack worked at W.R. Grace Fertilizer. She was a member of 9th & Columbia Church of Christ, LaCasa Club, Plainview Art Association and Chamber of Commerce Red Coats. She taught children's Bible classes. She was a talented artist. She is survived by her husband, Jack Compton of Plainview; two daughters, Laura Graham and husband Daniel of Plainview, and Polly Jones and husband Kenny of Abilene; one son, Tim Compton and wife Stephanie of Lubbock; one brother, William Goodpasture Jr. of Canada; two sisters, Janelle Jones and husband J. Frank of Wolfforth, and Shirley Browning and husband Weldon of Hobbs, N.M.; five grandchildren, Justin Compton, Sean Compton, Amanda Davis, Daniel Graham Jr. and Marissa Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Davis and Carson Graham.
