Funeral services for Hosia "Lee" Compton, 67, of Hale Center will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Dr. Carrol Green, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Compton died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1942, in Foreman, Ark., to Augustus and Martha Lee Compton. He graduated from Unity High School in Foreman, Ark., and farmed most of his life around Hale Center. He was a veteran in the Army 101st Airborne and a Baptist. Survivors include five brothers, Jackie Compton and J.R. Compton of Plain?view, Ivory Compton of Dallas, Jimmy Compton of Rochester, N.Y., and Gordon Compton of Fort Worth; three sisters, Ira Roy of Abernathy, Urail Compton of Plainview and Izora Shaw of Texarkana; and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents; a sister, Idella Compton; and two brothers, Willie Compton and Augustus Compton Jr. are deceased. Memorial contributions may be made to Hale Center Senior Citizens, 416 W.
