Coleman, Carl Edward

Funeral services for Carl Edward Coleman, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Barley-Silva Funeral Home.

Mr. Coleman died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.

He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Durant, Okla. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and moved to Plainview in 1956. He worked for Oswald Printing as a printer and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

In 1946, he married Bennye Faye Brooks, in Decatur. She died Dec. 25, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Carlene Willis and Debra Acy, both of Plainview; eight sons, Tyrone, Dwight, Ronald Sr., Robert Pollard, Danny, Bobby, and Ben F. Coleman, all of Plainview, and Curtis Coleman of Marietta, Okla.; two adopted children, Shenea and Shalin Williams of Plainview; one sister, Helen Carter of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

His parents, Edward and Maude Squire Coleman; a brother, James Coleman; and one grandson, Angelo Pruitt, are deceased.
