Obituary

Funeral Mass for Rose Clayton, 93, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood Dunning Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Clayton died Monday, May 4, 2009, at her residence. She was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Eveleth, Minn., to Frank and Caroline Bastianelli. She graduated from Eveleth High School. She married John M. Clayton on Feb. 14, 1943, in Port Orchard, Wash. He died in April 2007. She moved to the Plainview area in the 1960s. She was a secretary at Estacado Junior High for years and a member of St. Alice Catholic Church. Survivors include three nieces, Brenda Hays of Canyon and Janice Nelson and Carolyn Begich, both of Minnesota; one great-niece, Carole Kelley of Idalou; one sister-in-law, Betty Hayes of Canyon; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to St. Alice Catholic Church or The Salvation Army.
