Clarke, George H. Mrs. (Mercedes Eugenia)

A Memorial Mass for Mercedes Eugenia Clarke, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Catanach of Deming, N.M. officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clarke died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Littlefield.

She was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Tacna, Chile, the daughter of Eliseo and Laura Cistemas. She married George H. Clarke in Santiago, Chile in 1931. They later moved to Brazil where she resided for 50 years.

She came to Plainview to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hinn. They moved to Ruidoso, N.M. in 1986 and after Mr. Hinn?s death in 1993, she moved to Littlefield, residing at the White Dove Nursing Home for the past 2 1/2 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Littlefield.

Surviving are two daughters, Hazel Kitover of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Patircia Hinn of Grove, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Michael, Robert, and John Hinn, Patricia and Alexei Kitover and Marcella Clarke, and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband George, her son Richard Michael, her parents and seven sisters are deceased.
