Obituary

David Clark, 67, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in Garland, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., today, Dec. 14, 2008, at the funeral home. David was born on April 2, 1941 in Hobart, Oklahoma. He grew up mostly in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964 and served one stint before joining the Reserves. Later he served in the Army National Guard and then the State Guard. He went back to school and graduated from South Plains College. He was a farmer and worked for the city of Plainview as the executive director for the Hale County Housing Authority for 30 years. He retired in 2003. He married Elizabeth Brandes on Jan. 30, 1965 in Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Linda Clark; and a sister Charlotte Turner. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Clark of Plainview; two daughters, Tonja Gray of Abilene, Mechelle Clark of Plainview; one son, D.J. Clark of Lubbock; one sister, Sheila Stockton of Blair, Okla.; two granddaughters, Charlene Gray of Longview and Alecia Gray of Abilene, Texas.
