Obituary

Magilu Churchwell died peacefully on July 24, 2006, at the age of 85. Magilu was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Cumby, Texas, to Marcus and Perry Garoutte. She married James Willie (Bill) Churchwell in 1944. The couple farmed for many years in the Praireview community, then owned a K-Bob's Steakhouse in Lubbock, retiring to Lake Conroe in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years and her granddaughter, Autumn Thurman. She moved to Camano Island, Wash., in 2000 and most recently was a resident of Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, Wash. She is survived by her three children, Lucy Armstrong of Camano Island, Wash., Suzanne Howle of Bellevue, Wash., and Jay Churchwell of Conroe, Texas; as well as her five grandchildren, Leigh Danielson, Lana Armstrong, Heather Post, Marcus Howle and Hallie Churchwell. She left behind four beloved great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at First United Methodist Church in Plainview, Texas.
