Chitty, Virgil

Graveside services for Virgil Chitty, 87, were at 11 a.m. today in Plainview Memorial Park with Trey Morgan, minister of Central Church of Christ in Tulia, officiating.

Burial arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Chitty died at 12:41 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Lubbock.

He was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Blue Ridge. He lived in Silverton until 1948. He retired after 30 years with the Texas Highway Department.

In 1953, he married Inez Carlisle in Plainview. She died Nov. 25, 1986.

Survivors include three sisters, Ermel Martin and Cleo Adams, both of Amarillo, and Theo Lee of Tulia; and one brother, Roy Chitty of Stephenville.

Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
