HALE CENTER- Funeral services for Bonnie Chilton, 70, of Lubbock, former Hale Center resident, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview with Ray Bailey, associate minister at Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, and Jim Brewer and Ralph Beistle, both ministers of South Plains Church of Christ in Lubbock, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chilton died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Rotan. She was a hairdresser in McLean and Dumas before moving to Hale Center in 1957. She worked as a volunteer at the nursing home. She moved to Lubbock in December of 1999 and was a member of South Plains Church of Christ and active in the Silvertones Sunday School.
On Aug. 28, 1948, she married Johnie Marvin Chilton in Pampa. He died in 1997.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Patricia Chilton of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Ronnie Brown of Lubbock; a sister, Corene Corley of Arlington; four grandchildren, Josh Searsy and his wife Lynette, of Lubbock, Jeremy Searsy of Plainview, Ginny Chilton of Bryan and John Chilton of Plainview; and a great-grandson, Devon Searsy of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials to Children?s Home of Lubbock or to Hi-Plains Children?s Home of Amarillo.
