Obituary
Funeral services for Thomas Cherry, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Lee Wilson of Matador officiating. Burial will be Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Cherry died at 5:57 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Aug 1, 1918, in Clarksville. He worked for Gardner Chevrolet as a detailer for 18 years. He was a Baptist. In 1983, he married Brenda Thorton in Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruby Tolbert and Savana Smith, both of Chicago, IL; four sons, Thomas Cherry Jr. and John Lee Cherry, both of Chicago, Michael Roberts of Plainview and James Roberts of Tennessee Colony; a brother, Pete Cherry of Salina; 45 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Two sons and one sister are deceased. The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
