Obituary

TULIA -- Funeral services for Yolanda M. Chavez, 62, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Chavez died Monday, April 5, 2004, in BSA Hospice in Amarillo. She was born Aug. 1, 1941, in New Braunfels. She moved to Plainview in 1953 and worked as an operating room technician in the hospital from 1969 until she retired July 4, 2002, and moved to Tulia. She was a member of First Baptist Church. On May 7, 1982, she married Jessie Chavez Sr. He died April 8, 2002. Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Martinez of Tulia; two sons, Tony Solis of Plainview and Jessie Chavez of Plainview; a brother and sister-in-law, Rolando and Ophelia Martinez of Lubbock; two sisters, Alma Sepulveda of Amarillo and Maria M. Portillo of Amarillo; another sister-in-law, Veronica Martinez of Lubbock; and seven grandchildren. A brother, Raoul A. Martinez, is deceased.
