Lubbock- Funeral services for Vernon D. Chapman, 68, former Hale Center resident, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Webster, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hale Center Cemetery by Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mr. Chapman died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside.
He was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Amarillo. He moved to Lubbock in 1962 from Hale Center and was self-employed carpenter for more than 30 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
On Jan. 31, 1954, he married Virginia Dodson in Plainview.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bobby and Larry Chapman, both of Wolfforth and Kenneth Chapman of Lubbock; a daughter, Verna Dean of Lubbock; two sisters, Frances Chapman and Ethel Best, both of Groveton; a brother, David Chapman of San Francisco, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
