Obituary

Funeral Mass for Joseph "Joey" Chapa, 21, of Amarillo, whose family is from Plainview, will be a 3 p.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Hoffman, pastor of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in Lemons Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Chapa died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 1995, in Deming, N.M., in a two-vehicle adccident.

He was born Aug. 27, 1973,in Chicago, Ill.

He moved to Amarillo in 1980 and attended St. Laurence Catholic Elementary. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School and was attending Amarillo College where he was majoring in radiation therapy. He was a Brown Belt in Karate and a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Chapa Jr. of Amarillo; a brother, Chris Chapa III of Amarillo, and his grandfather, Floyd Amador of Cuero. Several uncles, aunts and cousins live in Plainview.
