Obituary

A memorial Mass for Alejandro "Alex" Cerbantez, 70, will be at 6:30 p.m. today in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Cerbantez died Friday, March 3, 2006, at his residence. He was born May 7, 1935, in San Marcos to Agapito Cerbantez and Susana Maldonado Cerbantez. He married Maria Ramirez on June 22, 1956, in Happy. He was a farmer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Theresa Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; five sons and daughters-in-law, Alex Jr. and Beverly Cerbantez of Canyon, Richard and Jennifer Cerbantez and David and Brenda Cerbantez, all of Hale Center, and Jesse and Rose Cerbantez and Johnny and Gloria Cerbantez, all of Plainview; 12 daughters and six sons-in-law, Rosemary and Isidro Rodriguez, Linda Trevino, Jeanette and Andres Gamez, Florinda Cerbantez, Beatrice Cerbantez and Elizabeth and Manuel Baca, all of Hale Center, Jeannie and Jaime Mendoza and Yolanda and Flavio Castillo, all of Plainview, Carolyn Cerbantez of Lamesa, Brenda Mendoza of Olton, Rebecca Cerbantez of Dallas and Christina and Demetrio Gamez of Hart; one brother, Roy Cerbantez of Huntington; and seven sisters, Maria Valvurde, Guadalupe Cerbantez, Delia Ranael, Luisa Cerbantez and Delores Agundis, all of Thrall, and Janie Garza and Phyllis Rojas, both of Taylor; 52 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. His parents, brothers Jesse Cerbantez and Agapito Cerbantez Jr., and sister, Susana Cerbantez, are deceased.
