Obituary
Joe H. Cavazos, 71, of Plainview, Texas, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rudy Garcia of New Revival Center officiating. Memorial services are under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Cavazos was born Sept. 24, 1943, in Brownsville, Texas, to the late Joe G. Sr. and Clara (Hernandez) Cavazos. He married Lupe (Lara) on Aug. 17, 1961, in Plainview where they enjoyed 53 years of marriage together. Joe was a very patriotic man who loved his country, especially the American Bald Eagle. Mr. Cavazos loved boxing where he was a coach for the Plainview Golden Gloves, and eventually started his own club, The Plainview Fighting Eagles. Along with his love for boxing, he also loved camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a carpet layer for 45 years and worked with Lairds House of Carpet at the end of his career. Mr. Cavazos was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sr. and Clara; and his grandmother, Flora Ramos. He is survived by his wife; Lupe; five children, Esmeralda C. Vallejo and husband Freddie of Mansfield, Texas, Sylvia L. Duquette and husband Louis Flores of Plainview, Texas, Joe L. Cavazos and wife Guadalupe G. of Plainview, Texas, Victor L. Cavazos and wife Petra Z. of Plainview, Texas, David L. Cavazos and wife Cindy of Lubbock, Texas, Israel J.C. Cavazos and wife Rachel of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Jesse Hernandez and wife Gloria; and a sister; D.D. Gonzales.
