Obituary

Matilde Vela Castillo, 76, of Plainview, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Castillo was born March 14, 1932, in San Saba, Texas, to Lulo and Guadalupe Castillo. He married Antonia Espinosa on Jan. 20, 1954, in Junction, Texas. He lived in Friona until moving to Plainview in 2007. Survivors include his wife, Antonia Castillo; three daughters, Lupe Castillo of Plainview, Martha Branson and husband, Glen, of Keller and Alison Mercado and husband, Ricky, of Hereford; one son, Edward Castillo and wife, JoAnn, of Plainview; five sisters, Sara Castillo, Maria Flores, Nacha Sanchez, Feliz Crutchfield and Victoria Hollis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 4, 2008, in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.
