LEWISVILLE -- Services for Betty Joyce Cartwright of Lewisville, Texas, and former lifelong Plainview resident, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville, Texas, followed by graveside services held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2004 at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas. Mrs. Cartwright died on Monday, March 8th from complications related to kidney disease. Her family was by her side. She was born Betty Joyce Zeigler, the daughter of Roland and Mildred Zeigler, on July 22, 1934 in Plainview, Texas. They are both deceased. Betty is preceded in death by her brother, Roland S. Zeigler Jr of Plainview. Betty graduated from Plainview High School in 1951, and married Lon D. Cartwright, husband of 32 years. He preceded her in death in 1983. Betty attended the Chicago Institute of Design in Chicago, Illinois and was an Interior Designer. She owned the Decore Shoppe in Plainview and worked with her husband in construction and real estate development. During her life in Plainview, Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church and she was an active member in many civic and social endeavors of the community. In 1990, she moved to Dallas and was a member of the Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville, Texas at the time of her death. Surviving are her daughters, Lonna Fleming and her husband, Martin of Spring, Texas, Roanne Mullino of Lewisville, Texas and Carla Betzen of Dallas, Texas and her son, Drew Cartwright of Anaheim Hills, California, three grandchildren, Paul Fleming of Austin, Marti Fleming of College Station and Magan and her husband Adam Schain of White Plains, New York, her great-grandson, Max Lon Schain and many beloved nieces and nephews. Betty's life was full of much joy and many challenges which she overcame with determination and resilience. She leaves us with many memories of happiness and will always be with us in spirit.
