Obituary
The funeral of William M. Carter, 75, of Plainview will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the M.W. Lemons chapel. Carter, a resident of Hale County for the past 19 years, died at his home at 615 East Ninth Street at 7 o'clock this morning following a three days' illness. Rev. W.A. Hitchcock, Plainview Methodist minister, will officiate in the services. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery under direction of the Lemons Funeral Home. Carter was born May 22, 1869, in Jackson County, Tennessee, from where he moved to Fannin County, Texas, when a lad. He moved to Hale County from Fannin in 1926. He farmed near Hale Center until he moved to Plainview ten years ago. Survivors are his wife and four daughters, Mrs. W.S. Yates, Goree; Mrs. George Boliver, Hart; Mrs. Catherine Sparrow and Mrs. S.B. Dyer, both of Plainview; two sons, S.R. Carter, Bonham, and A.M. Carter, Tyler, and a brother, D.W. Carter in California. Twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Oddfellows.
