Obituary

Funeral services for Eddis Lester Carpenter, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Colonial Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Malcolm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Carpenter died at 6:25 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Covenant Hospital Lubbock. He was born Nov. 27, 2004. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Jack Morris Ford until his retirement. He was a deacon at Colonial Baptist Church. Eddis was a loving and generous man to all who knew him. His quick wit and ability to find humor and joy in any situation was a strength that will be forever remembered by family and friends. He had a deep love and devotion for his wife of 58 years and his family. His love for the Lord was continually reflected in the unending time and service that he so lovingly gave to his church. He was a man of great character, a pillar of strength, and a lighthouse throughout his life. He leaves a powerful Godly legacy to those who were fortunate enough to call him friend, father, or grandfather. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Carpenter and his wife, Carolanne, of Arboles, Colo., and Mark Carpenter and wife, Cheryl, of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
