Funeral services for William Brady Carlton, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. Dean McNamara officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Carlton died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in IHS Heritage Home. He was born June 18, 1915, in Turkey, the son of the late William Walter and Carrie Carlton. In 1918 he moved to Friona and after the death of his parents in, he lived with his maternal grandmother. He moved to Memphis, Texas and lived with his paternal grandmother. He attended schools in Friona and Memphis. On Nov. 24, 1948, he married Zula Mae Wyatt in Clovis, N.M. They lived in Friona where he worked for the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation. He transferred to Plainview in 1963. He joined Alanreed Baptist Church in 1926 and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church since March of 1963. Survivors include his wife; and several nieces and nephews including Margie Rexrode, Debra Carlton, Donette Weatherly, Milton and David Carlton. A sister, Johnnie Opal Stewart and two brothers, Robert and Aubrey Carlton, are deceased.
