Obituary

On April 14, 2004, Augustine Cantu, 73, of Abernathy passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus Christ. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, at St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Arnold Bravo officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the same church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Mrs. Cantu was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Geronimo, Texas, and moved to Abernathy in 1943. She married Agapito Cantu, Nov. 7, 1948, in Plainview. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where she served as a Guadalapana.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Agapito Cantu Jr.; five daughters, Irene Rodriguez, Irma Saenz, Beatrice Rios, Belinda DeLos Santos and Melissa Lopez; two sisters, Ruth Hernandez and Trinidad Montanana; 20 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
