Campbell, O.C.

Graveside services for O.C. Campbell, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Memorial Park with the Rev. Johnnie Williams, retired Methodist minister from Lubbock, officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mr. Campbell died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in Prairie House Living Center in Plainview.

He was born Sept. 16, q913, in Atoka County, Okla., one of nine children of the late Winston Otis and Carabelle Campbell. He moved with his parents to Arizona in 1928 and to Texas in 1931. He was farmer and rancher and with the help of two brothers, developed what is now the O.C. Campbell Ranch at Roaring Springs in 1950. He later bought a farm west of Kress and moved his family to Swisher County.

He was active in the Kress community, serving as president of the Kress School Board, was Sunday school superintendent of Kress First United Methodist Church, and a member of the Masonic order.

On March 22, 1940, he married Faye Turner. She died in 1982.

Survivors include three sons, Gene Campbell of Leigh Acres, Fla., Jerry Campbell of Pasadena, Calif., and James Campbell of Hart; a daughter, Molly Box of Abilene; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

One child and three grandchildren are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, Kress, TX 79052.
