John R. Caldwell's Funeral Saturday
The funeral of John R. Caldwell, 77, of Plainview will be conducted at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Date Street Baptist Church. Rev. A.C. Hamilton, pastor, will officiate.
Caldwell, a retired farmer, died at 11:55 Thursday night at the Olton Memorial Hospital where he had been under treatment for eight days. He had been in poor health the past five months.
The Caldwell family moved to Hale County in 1929 from Wise County. Caldwell farmed until 1941 when he retired and moved to Plainview. The home is at 403 East Eighth Street.
He was born June 27, 1873, in Ellis County. On Dec. 8, 1901, he was married to Miss Sophie Baker who is among survivors. Other survivors are two sons, R.P. Caldwell, Plainview, and C.D. Caldwell, Tahoka; two brothers, S.D. Caldwell, Decatur, and J.W. Caldwell, Floydada, a half-brother, Andrew Caldwell, Corinth, and a half-sister, Mrs. Rosie Donnivan, Wichita Falls. Three grandchildren survive.
Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery under director of the Roy G. Wood Funeral Home.
