Funeral services for James ?Jay? Hollis Cagle, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, and Dr. Jack Ridlehoover, former pastor of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.
Mr. Cagle died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born July 13, 1931, in Childress. He served with the U.S. Marines for two years and played football for Tyler Junior College, Hardin-Simmons University and the Marine Corps. He lived in Tulia from 1957 to 1977 when he moved to Abilene. He moved to Plainview in 1997. He was a building contractor and a member of First Baptist Church.
On Feb. 6, 1954, he married Cleta Ferrel in Parnell.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carla Johnson of Franklin, Tenn., and Candace and Randy Woods of Plainview; a son, Jess Cagle of New York City; a brother, Bill Cagle of Plainview; and three grandchildren, Bo Johnston, Lindsay Johnston and Landon Woods.
The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Hospice, 4418 Olton Road, Plainview, TX 79072, or to a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
