Obituary

Odis Caddel, 85, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Odis was born Nov. 14, 1927, to Joseph, Jr. and Laura Myrtle Caddel in Hart Camp, Texas. He grew up in Rush Springs, Okla., and later Olton. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 until 1949. He has lived in the Plainview community since 1959. He married Tia Juana Jo Measles on Dec. 11, 1947. She preceded him in death. He worked for Southwestern Public Service for 28 years. He married Beverly Ann Thomas January 1, 1966, in Plainview. His hobbies included camping, photography, music and ham radio. Odis served on Plainview Electric Board. He was an ordained elder for First Christian Church and scoutmaster at Trinity Methodist Church. He served on numerous boards and was president of Methodist Men and member of Toastmasters. Odis was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, nine brothers and four sisters. Odis is survived by his wife Beverly Caddel of Plainview; five children, James Robert Caddel of Las Vegas, Nev., Steven Lynn Caddel of Reno, Nev., Tonya Denise Caddel Canada of Snyder, Texas, John Kurt Caddel of Lubbock, and David Wynn Caddel of Wolfforth, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
