Obituary

Services for Evelyn Byrd, 83, of Petersburg will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14 , 2005, in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Evelyn passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 26, 1922 in Claude, Texas to William Robert and Annie Armanda (Conner) Hillman. She was a member of Petersburg First Baptist Church, the Home Demonstration Club, the 4-H Club and the As You Like it Hobby Club. Her favorite hobby was painting ceramics. Evelyn was a homemaker and had lived in Petersburg most of her life. Survivors include a son and his wife; Jim and Billie Byrd of Petersburg, a daughter and her husband; Sandra and Jake Webb of Petersburg, a brother and his wife; Royce and Inez Hillman of Plainview, five grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Marcus Scarborough of Tulia, Chad and Kerry Byrd of Petersburg, Jana and Kelly Simmons of Lubbock, Rex and Becky Hegi of Petersburg and Joni Webb of Dallas; and nine great-grandchildren; Laura and Reese Scarborough, Keeli and Chance Willis, Zane, Zack and Morgan Byrd and Kassidy and Karlee Hegi. She is preceded in death by four brothers, Herbert, Jack, Ray and Earl Hillman and three sisters, Midge Fielder, Ruth Sloan and Gene Lambert. Pallbearers will be Rex Hegi, Chad Byrd, Marcus Scarborough, Kelly Simmons, Chance Willis, Reese Scarborough, Zane Byrd and Zack Byrd.
