Burke, Harvey John

Funeral services for Harvey John Burke, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating, assisted by J. Henderson, an elder at the 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Burke died at 2 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, at Covenant Hospital Plainview.

He was born May, 7, 1919, in Sagerton.

He grew up and attended schools in Stanford and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949.

Mr. Burke served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was active in nursing home ministry.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Burke married Mayesie Mathews on Dec. 21, 1952, in Bangs.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Ann Powell of Bangs and Karen Miller of Floydada; one brother, Ray Burke of Lubbock; two sisters, Lou Chesser of Lubbock and Helen Lesly of Lubbock; and seven grandchildren.
