Obituary

Funeral services for Aliene Dowdy Burch, 87, will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, with Pastor Don Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. Mrs. Burch was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in Ivanhoe, Texas, to Luther and Willie Arney. She married Aulton Dowdy on June 3, 1945, in Plainview. They raised their four children while farming in the Texas Panhandle. After the death of her first husband, Aulton Dowdy, in 1981, she married Darwin Burch on June 20, 1987, in Plainview. They shared many happy years of activities, going to senior dances in the area, traveling and game night with friends. She enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life by keeping a tidy house and cooking for family. She also enjoyed game shows on the television. After the death of Darwin Burch in 2005, she resided at Christian Manor for many years, where she made numerous friends. She moved to Oklahoma City in December 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Travis Arney and Joe Arney; and granddaughter, LaShell Burnett. Aliene is survived by her children, Roger Dowdy and wife Diane of Plainview, Linda Burnett and husband "Dub" of Albuquerque, N.M., her twins, Roy Dowdy of Moore, Okla., and Troy Dowdy and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her brothers, "Red" Arney and wife Lawanna of Washington, Bobby Arney and wife Marjorie of Louisiana, and Calvin Arney of Texas.
