Obituary

Funeral services for Darwin Wray Burch, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Burch died at 7:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Butler, Okla., and moved to Plainview at age 13. He worked as a trucker for Hale County Sand and Gravel, for Wal-Mart and as a deliveryman for Teague Pharmacy. He was active in the Hale County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. He married Dorothy Herion in Odessa. She died in 1986. He married Aliene Arney Dowdy on June 20, 1987, in Plainview. Surviving are his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Don Fugett of Dumas and Barbara and Jim Caviness of Amarillo; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Devery Burch of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Janice Miller of Plainview; two sisters, Louise Frazier of Butler, Okla., and Evelyn Jernigan of Plainview; a stepdaughter and her husband, Linda and W.L. Barnett of Albuquerque, N.M.; three stepsons and wives, Roger and Diane Dowdy of Plainview and Troy and Debbie Dowdy and Roy Dowdy, all of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His parents and two brothers are deceased. The family suggests memorials to Area Community Hospice, the Leukemia Foundation or College Heights Baptist Church.
