Obituary
Selma Buchanan, 96, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Bro. John Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Buchanan was born on Sept. 23, 1918, at Grand Saline, Texas, to Parker and Sally Davis, She married Carman Buchanan on Oct. 15, 1938. The couple moved to Bledsoe, Texas, in 1942 and farmed in that area for many ye ars. She was a member of the Baptist church. She had a cheerful personality, always laughing and gladly lending a helping hand. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress, making many items of clothing for her family. She and her husband moved to Comanche, Texas, in 1981 and lived there for 13 years. They moved to Plainview in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Larry; and six older brothers, Ray, Homer, Lee, Elbert, Jimmie and Coy. She is survived by her son, Marlin and wife Joan of El Paso, Texas; her daughter, Linda of Lovington, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Marilyn of Portales, New Mexico; and daughters, Janis Miller and husband Harold of Plainview, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
