Obituary

Funeral services for C.E. Buchanan, 89, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church with Steve Martin officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Born to Ida Chambers and John Buchanan Aug. 19, 1917, in Canton, Mr. Buchanan died Nov. 19, 2006, at Covenant Hospital Lubbock. He farmed near Bledsoe from 1944-80. He was on the Bledsoe School Board and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He moved to Plainview in 1994 from Comanche where he had lived since 1980. He married Selma Davis on Oct. 15, 1938, in Grand Saline. Survivors include his wife, Selma, of Plainview; a son, Marlin Buchanan of El Paso; two daughters, Linda Brooks of Lovington, N.M., and Janis Miller of Plainview; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Buchanan of Portales, N.M.; a brother, Donald Buchanan of Lubbock; a sister, Clovia Harlan of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A son, Larry Buchanan died in 2001 and a brother, Buddy Buchanan, died in 1989.
