Obituary

Funeral Mass for Dr. Norbert J. Bublis, 94, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Dr. Bublis died at 11:47 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, in Covenant Medical Center Lakeside in Lubbock. He was born June 6, 1910, in Centralia, Ill., the son of Anton and Magdalena Bublis. He married Mary Elizabeth Davis on July 7, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo. She died Nov. 6, 1995. He was a board certified orthopedic surgeon, a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Trauma Society, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Western Orthopedic Association, the Texas Orthopedic Association and the Tri-County Medical Society. Survivors include three daughters, Rosemary Hooper of Lubbock, Nancy Cox of Plainview and Cathy Hoch of Arlington; three sons, Norbert C. Bublis of Plainview, Jimmy Bublis of Norman, Okla., and Dr. Paul Bublis of Hobbs, N.M.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. His wife of 50 years, Dr. Mary Bublis; and a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, are deceased. The family will receive friends at the rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel.
