Brown, Earl Elbert

Funeral services for Elbert Earl Brown, 79, will be at 2p.m. Saturday at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown died early today, Jan. 12, 2001, at Covenant Hospital Plainview.

He was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Abernathy. He was with Furr?s supermarket, based in Lubbock for 45 years. He was manager of the Plainview Furr?s Supermarket on two separate occasions and was district manager for several years. He operated Claiborne?s Thriftway in Plainview from 1982 to 1989.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps as a Platoon Sergeant and also served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.

On April 11, 1948, he Married Aleta Mae McDaniel in Plainview. She died in 1998.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Earl and Liz Brown of Plainview and a daughter and son ?in-law, Peggy and Jody Wallin of Odessa; three grandchildren, heather walling of Odessa, Mark and his wife Louisa Wallin of Giddings; and Katherine Brown of Plainview; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Axtin Wallin of Odessa.
