Brown, Buddy, Mrs. (Lura Criswell)

Funeral services for Lura Criswell Brown, 67, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church chapel.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2003, at her residence in Briscoe County where she had lived since 1977.

She was born July 28, 1935, in Merkel in Taylor County, the daughter of Elmer L. and Allene Thompson Criswell. She attended school at Lenorah in Martin County and graduated from Idalou High School in 1953.

She worked for Denzil McMillan, CPA, in Plainview and at First State Bank in Silverton. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Silverton and was active in various sports and activities until diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy.

On Aug. 4, 1956, she married Buddy Brown in Plainview.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda Kay and Tony Frye of Lubbock; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Allen and Sally Brown of Brownwood; her twin sister, Linda Smith of Plainview; two brother and sisters-in-law, Elmer Lee and Betty Criswell of Plainview and W.B. and Jo Ellen Criswell of Idalou; four grandchildren, Dustin and Kelsey Frye of Lubbock and Taylor and Keeley Brown of Brownwood; her mother-in-law, Cora Brown of Plainview; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lonnie Brown and Rosa Lee Anderson, also of Plainview.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
