Funeral services for Rayford Britton, 79, were at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church in Halfway with the Rev. Bently Gwyn, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Halfway Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Britton died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1925, in Sudan, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He retired from Farmer's Co-op Elevator where he worked from 1961-92. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Halfway. On June 3, 1967, he married Dorothy Thomas in Levelland. Survivors include his wife; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Donna and Jimmy Dane of Midland, Karen Britton of Levelland, Judy and Paul Allen of Halfway and Glenda and Roger Summers of Plainview; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kelly and Deborah Britton of Seattle, Wash., Bobby Naron of Saginaw, and Rodney and Georgia Moss of Lake Worth; one brother, Homer Britton of Brownfield; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. His parents, four brothers and two sisters are deceased.
