Obituary

Funeral services for Debbe Brightbill, 53, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Perez and the Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. After the service at the cemetery, the family will have a meal and fellowship at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 1201 Quincy. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Brightbill died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at her residence. She was born April 16, 1954, in Haskell to Francis "Nic" Nickerson and Cressie "Kryss" Stevenson Nickerson. She married Jerry Dean Brightbill on April 7, 1972, in Wilcox, Ariz. Debbe was an accomplished and well respected artist of Texas Tech University, Oklahoma University and Wayland Baptist University. A public art showing held at Wayland Baptist University in 2005 was well received by the community. Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ainsley Brightbill of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Stephanie Brightbill of Plainview; two brothers, Cory Nickerson of Tulsa, Okla., and Steve Nickerson of Hollywood, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Hamel of Cape Cod, Mass.; and 17 nieces and nephews. Her parents and one son, Chris "Cab" Brightbill, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to the Debbe Brightbill Art Scholarship at Wayland Baptist University, 1900 W. Seventh CMB 621, Plainview, TX 79072.
