Obituary

Services for Dene Bridges, 74, of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. Military Graveside services will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Mr. Bridges died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Lubbock.

He was born May 15, 1933, in Detroit, Texas, to Hardy Lee Bridges and Ollie Mae (Evans) Bridges. He was raised in Abernathy and married La Nelda Hughes on April 25, 1953 in Plainview. He served in the US Army from 1953-1957. They moved to Lubbock in 1981. He was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, La Nelda Bridges of Lubbock; five children, Ricky Bridges and wife Pam of Lubbock, Don Bridges of Buffalo Springs Lake, Ron Bridges and wife Denessa of Lubbock, Dennis Bridges and wife Ginny of Texarkana, and Sherri Shoemaker and husband Roger of Flower Mound. He is also survived by a brother, Johnny Bridges and wife Sue of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Jordan of Fort Worth; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
