Obituary

Carmelita Brewer, 81, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept 27, 2009.
Mrs. Brewer was born Nov. 24, 1927,in Tulia to Merie and Myrtle Grantham. She married the love of her life, Murry L. Brewer, on Dec. 28, 1944, in Kress. They had been dating since October. Murry says, "The only reason they dated for so long was he had to convice her he was the one!" They began their Life together farming, but soon Murry was call into the Ministry.
Carmelita was completely devoted to her husband and their children. She could always be found at Murry's side. Carmelita worked in real estate in Midland. They moved to Amarillo in 1986 to be closer to family. For the next eight years they managed the Clairmont Retirement Residences. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in Dec. Carmelita was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Melody Lynn, and two brothers, Leslie Merie and Don.
Survivors include her husband, Murry L. Brewer; two sons, Rick Brewer and wife Kathy of McKinney and Larry Brewer and wife Sue of Amarillo, Tx.; two sisters, Jodie Edwards and Barbara McGlurg, both of Tulia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials go to Olivia's Angels, in care of BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Tx.
The family will have a gathering of friends to celebrate Carmelita' life from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St.
