Obituary

ABERNATHY - Graveside services for Rodney Boykin, 86, of Shallowater , will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will be by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, Mr. Boykin died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001 in Lubbock University Medical Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1915 in Decatur and married Daisy Le bow on June 28, 1939 in Abernathy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945. He moved to Shallowater from Lubbock in 1975 and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Anthony Boykin of Shallowater and Quinton Boykin of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Lillian Sanders of Princeton and Brenda Baldwin of Shallowater; two brothers, Johnny Boykin and Leon Boykin; three sisters, Mary Murrelle, Alma Knezek and Ruby Faye Knezek; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A daughter, Priscilla Brockett, is deceased.
