Obituary

Funeral services for LaVey Irene Boyd will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boyd died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

Born LaVey Lamb on Aug. 29, 1910 in El Paso, she lived in several states during her childhood, including Texas, Louisiana and California, since her father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. She graduated from Shreveport, LA, high school and attended Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. She then moved to Amhurst to teach in the public schools there.

She married Wayne Boyd in 1933, and they moved to Plainview in 1937. He died in 1982.

Mrs. Boyd lived in Plainview until she relocated to Ardmore, Okla. in 1997, to be close to her son, Gene Boyd. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plainview and active in many religious and civic organizations. She is a past president of the Plainview Women?s Club.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Boyd of Ardmore, Okla., and Richard Boyd of Haddam, Conn.; five grandchildren, Keith Boyd of Ardmore, Okla., Alison Haston of Tishomingo, Okla., Julia Fiello of Tucson, Ariz., David Boyd of Bristol, Conn., and Thad Hutchinson of Haddam, Conn.; and one great-grandchild, Evan Haston of Tishomingo, Okla.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church Landscape Fund or the Mission Fund, the Methodist Mission Home of San Antonio, or to a favorite charity.
